I thought it might be nice to share them: -  Liam

These two spectacular Camellias don’t try to spread  their flowering over two or three months: instead, they make a great display for two or three weeks: -

These are two details I lifted from the photos above.

I really like the situation the red Camellia enjoys -

no wonder it has such a happy balance of foliage and flowers –  it has a wall and a Brewer’s Spruce for shelter, and there’s a healthy Skimmia nearby, getting ready to take over with bright berries when the red flowers are fallen and  forgotten.

A Warning

After the record droughts of May 2020 all our Camellias will need to make the most of summer rainfall and may appreciate supplementary watering. July and August are the months when Camellias initiate their flower-buds and moisture at the roots is  essential every year.                    Ed, 29/06/2020.

The Hostas do well apart from the usual slug problem. and the Blue Geranium makes a nice contrast, it is not a new one as I have had it for ages. The Blue Clematis I bought 25-30 years ago in Waterloo Place, for very little money: I think it is H F Young but I’m not sure.

I had a nasty fall yesterday - went to A@ E today - gardening will be more difficult for 6 weeks.

Nevertheless Liam has been able to keep control of all that’s going on, specially taking photos for us and also tackling the recurrent jobs like keeping all that ivy in its proper places.. Like these: -

These two ivy-clad prospects face each other across a big courtyard.

My helper Ferdinand cutting back the ivy on the back of our house - much too dangerous to use a ladder: -

When I was up cutting back ivy and cleaning gutters at the back of our house, I got an opportunity to take these high-level photos ….
