03/08/2020 / Ros Hamilton /  “Before the rabbits”

09/08/2020 / Alan Hamilton / June was great.

Ros took this photo in mid-June, before the rabbit population created a spectacular amount of damage.

09/08/2020 / Alan Hamilton / June: flowering well.

Alan says Veronica ’First Love’ has done well this year, and this is Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’. That’s of the frost-proof sort that flowers on Spring growth.

These great perennial daisies are now officially called Leucanthemum, still ‘Mums’ for short.

This rich dark mallow is “from America” and its gentle  complimentary orange Achillea is ‘Terracotta’.

15/08/2020 / Liam Greene / Summer was busy:

Liam was busy with trimming and planting at Derry’s Peace Garden, and ‘hard landscaping’ etc at home to maintain the quality of the welcome to a ‘little bit of Japan in Derry’.

(etc. =  there’s more to look forward to)

The white Border Pink beside the path had been enjoying our 2020 season.  Ros said, “Mrs Sinkins was amazing this year”. The variety was introduced in 1868 and has kept its superb perfume

clove perfume, vigour and floral quality ever since.
